Central Women’s University; hosted a special screening of `Laapataa Ladies’

Today, the Media and Movie Club, Central Women’s University; hosted a special screening of `Laapataa Ladies’, followed by an engaging discussion on the film and its social relevance. Professor Dr. Perween Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Elias Ahmed, Registrar, Chairpersons of different departments, faculty members, and students joined the screening and actively participated in the discussion, making the event vibrant and memorable. Following the screening, participants engaged in a critical and reflective discussion; including gender roles, identity formation, societal expectations, and contemporary social realities. The discussion was marked by active and meaningful participation from both students and faculty members, who critically examined the ways in which the issues represented in the film correspond to, and illuminate, experiences within everyday social life. The exchange of diverse perspectives facilitated a deeper understanding of the film’s thematic and socio-cultural dimensions, making the session intellectually stimulating, analytically engaging, and thought-provoking. After the screening and discussion, Kazi Nafia Rahman, Co-Moderator of the Media and Movie Club and lecturer of the department of Journalism and Media Studies, announced the new committee of the club.
